Welcome to The Youngberg Report, let’s begin.

DeepMind CEO stepping down

GOOG $357.21

True pioneers like DeepMind have been conducting research in the AI world for the last 16 years.  The company was acquired by Google in 2014 for £400mn, is known for some early breakthroughs (AI defeats human in Go), and is the team that created Google's current Gemini model used in search.

The London-based company recently had Sir Demis Hassabis step down as CEO to focus on the “big picture” and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

The future of DeepMind is unclear, but a move like this suggests operations could be absorbed completely by Google in the future.

Swiss investment Group, Partners Group, are almost finished a deal acquiring French Beauty Company Aroma-Zone for €2bn.

This past year revenue grew 52 per cent for Aroma-zone with similar growth over the past two years as well.  Aroma-zone was created in 1999 as an information website and later that year transitioned to selling essential oils.

US Companies

Google gets chips for Anthropic

ANTH.PVT 589.01

In the middle of all the current AI chaos, we see demand soaring quarter after quarter.

Anthropic needs more chips to fulfill the demand; investor Google is here to save the day.

Opinion

Since my first experience with AI (one of ChatGPT's earlier models in 2022) it’s been crazy just to see this industry evolve.  It seems like every six months there is such a giant leap relative to the time it took other markets to take off.

It’s incredible... incredible and terrifying.

Terrifying because we don’t know how it works, let alone our own brains, but incredible for the potential to solve problems and create abundance.

From around 2022 to 2025, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been the leading model preferred by consumers in the US.

Recently, a little after the start of 2026 we see Anthropic’s Claude becoming significantly more relevant, making the US AI race mostly between OpenAI and Anthropic now.

There’s no question this tech will make a difference, which company will come out on top?
